Ask for Angela is the national scheme that helps anyone who is feeling vulnerable on a night out to get the support they need. Since 2016 it has been used by bars and other outlets to help people safe when they feel in danger or are in a difficult situation

Your company may already have a policy in place to make a person feel safe; the principles of the 'Ask Angela' system are integrated into our Challenge 25 Training sessions
The 'Ask for Angela' initiative is a campaign, first started in 2016, designed to enhance safety in bars and other venues by protecting individuals from vulnerable situations. It uses a discreet code-word 'Angela' to signal someone feels unsafe, threatened or uncomfortable. When a venue implements this scheme, staff are trained to recognize the request and assist the person in moving them to a safer environment.
A BBC TV investigation found failures in implementation in many venues, the Mayor of London calling the BBC's findings "shocking and unacceptable" with Government response cited as "deeply concerning". In the BBC test exercise, 13 of 25 venues visited failed to respond appropriately to the Angela codeword
